Clinical SCS I°

Levels > CLINICAL SCS

Neck Region:

The “Clinical Strain Counterstrain I°” course is a specific class program on the neck dysfunctions for those medical figures that do not have sufficient time to spend with the patient or whom are specialist in one specific area of the body and have few chances of evaluating and treating the entire body. The course is divided into 6 seminars of the duration of one day and half in which will be taught how to precisely evaluate and treat the most common dysfunction of that singular area and which pathology can be faced. The classes can be picked singularly or the entire course of seminars can be followed.
The course is open only to Medical Doctors and Doctor of Dental surgery as well as students of the last years of course.

Intensive lecture will be spent on:

  • Neurologic basis for somatic dysfunction
  • Review of phisio-anatomy concepts of the cervical spine region
  • Comprehension of the concept of articulatory lesions
  • Basic Rational of Strain Counterstrain
  • General rules for Strain Counterstrain technique
  • Explanation of the cervical vertebral movements and limitations
  • Explanation of different muscle behavior affected by neurological dysfunction
  • Evaluating & relating the major postural asymmetries in the neck
  • Explaining the ortho & parasympathetic relation for the various dysfunctions
  • Explanation of local and far away referral pain patterns for cervical dysfunctions
  • Teaching correct strategy sequencing in the neck area
  • Description of other manual techniques adjunctive for neck dysfunctions

Extensive lab time will be spent on:

  • Active, passive & resistance movement of the neck related to SCS philosophy
  • Anterior, posterior and lateral palpatory evaluation of the cervical region
  • Palpatory evaluation of the different cervical articulations
  • Palpatory evaluation of the muscle layer in with the cervical region
  • Palpatory evaluation of all the cervical articulatory movements
  • Palpatory evaluation of the main cervical muscle movements
  • Palpatory diagnosis of the cervical articulatory dysfunctions
  • Palpatory diagnosis of the main cervical muscle dysfunctions
  • Teaching how to feel a “Tender Point” on different body tissues
  • Teaching how to feel precisely a “Mobile point” sensation
  • Manual treatment for the most common somatic dysfunctions in the neck
  • Manual treatment for the most common muscle dysfunctions in the neck

Big emphasis is placed on teaching the students how to develop and improve their palpatory skills. Particular attention is spent on teaching how to palpate and discern the various muscular layers and the exact vertebra lesion, so to be able to place a precise diagnosis on the various articulatory & muscle dysfunction and treat them with the SCS philosophy.

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the neuromuscular basis for the articulatory dysfunctions
  • Establish a complete evaluation of the neck area
  • Place a diagnosis on muscle-skeleton dysfunction with SCS philosophy
  • Establish a plan therapy aimed on the various lesions diagnosed
  • Design a home program using the SCS philosophy

The main dysfunction treated with this course are:

Arnou syndrome, Temporal ache, Neck vertigo, neck stiffness, Neck pain from erroneous vertebras position, whip-lash pain, Brachialgy, shoulder tension, Torticollis, Lack of neck movement
