REGULAR SCS COURSES:

These three day course introduces a new concept in the evaluation and treatment of somatic dysfunction. Strain Counterstrain (SCS) is a gentle, a traumatic manual medicine procedure that involves indirect positioning of a painful restricted muscle or joint in a skilled way that reduces inappropriate proprioceptor activity thereby arresting pain and aberrant muscle tone to normalize joint range and function as fast as 90 seconds.

Upon completion of each course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the neuromuscular basis for SCS
  • Perform a full body SCS evaluation
  • Perform SCS treatment techniques for common joint dysfunction
  • Use the SCS documentation format
  • Design an exercise home program using the SCS philosophy


Strain Counterstrain can be use in conjunction with: articular techniques, muscle energy, myofascial release, Trigger point therapy, exercises and modalities.

Our audience are fully licenced or last year of study:
Physiotherapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), Osteopathic doctors (D0), Medical doctors (MD) especially orthopedics & physiatrist, Dentists (DDS) and Chiropractors (DC).

Each attendee will receive a Course Syllabus a Flip Chart (SCS I,II,III & UQ courses only), and a Certificate of Completion.

Different material will be accesible at the course, like a few "Jones Strain Counterstrain" and "Clinical Application of Counterstrain" text books, Posters, Flip charts and other material will be available at the course or you may orther them directly at our website at the products page.

Jones Institute courses are 20 continuing education contact hours.
The Jones Institute is an authorized ATC Provider (NATA-BOC #P717) and NCBTMB Approved Provider (#298814-00). Courses are approved according to state requirements, (check with your state provider). If your state requires pre-course approval the number will be printed on the course certificate, obtained upon completion of the course.



The Jones Institute Europe proposes several consecutive levels in Strain & Counterstrain technique divided in:
Basic levels, Specialistic levels, Advanced levels and Other courses



Certification is for licensed healthcare professionals only that have completed at least SCS I°, SCS II° and SCS III° through the Jones Institute, and have a minimum of three years of patient care experience utilizing the Strain and Counterstrain technique.

The Jones Institute Europe SCS formation consist of consequential levels, starting from the introductory SCS I° course, passing on to the SCS II° level and moving on to SCS III°. After the completion of these three basic levels the student can attend SCS IV° or/and SCS V°. The Specialistic levels can be attendend in this order: SCS UQ, LQ, PP, VC, VL & AR can be done only after the SCS I°.


CLINICAL SCS COURSES:

The “Clinical Strain Counterstrain” course is a specific class program for those medical figures that do not have sufficient time to spend with the patient or whom are specialist in one specific area of the body and have few chances of evaluating and treating the entire body. The course is divided into 6 seminars of the duration of one day and half in which will be taught how to precisely evaluate and treat the most common dysfunction of that singular area. The course is based upon the most common medical pathology that can be faced in and from that particular area.

Upon completion of each course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the neuromuscular basis for SCS
  • Understand the neuromuscular basis for the articulatory dysfunctions
  • Perform a complete evaluation of the studied area
  • Place a diagnosis on muscle-skeleton dysfunction with SCS philosophy
  • Establish a plan therapy aimed on the various lesions diagnosed
  • Have knowledge of the various pathology that can be treated with SCS
  • Design an exercise home program using the SCS philosophy

PALPATORY ANATOMY COURSES:

WHAT’S PALPATORY ANATOMY?:

Human musculoskeletal anatomy it’s the study of the macroscopic form and structure of the organism.
Studying human anatomy on books is not sufficient to comprehend exactly where the various structure are really disposed on a 3D model like the human body.
The ability of orientating and perceive the different tissue sensation is fundamental basis for every sanitary operator who really wants to learn anatomy in a visual and perceptive way.


COURSE SPECIFICS:

Palpatory Anatomy courses are articulated into 5 non sequential modules, these modules are:



Every module lasts one day, from 09:30 am to 5:30 pm, the minimum number of participant is 10 subscribers, the maximum number of participant is fixed to 20 students. The program is downloadable clicking on each single module.

The course guarantees an advanced specialistic formation in manual medicine, thanks to the considerable deepening of notions supplied at the course, our goal is to perfection the expert professionists, and to form in a proficient way the young participants. Making at the end of the course every operator immediately autonomous and able to move with extreme precision throughout the various anatomical structures: bones, ligaments, tendons, muscle masses and vascular-nervous elements. With these courses it will be able not only to identify the various structures and/or parts of them with precision, but even to comprehend: the tone-trofisim, the consistency, the mobility, etc. Fundamental information so to pose diagnosis on the various somatic affections of the organism.

SINGULAR MODULE FORMATION:
The choice of this formula based on singular modules carried on a single day offers numerous advantages to the participants.
Permits from one side, to follow a course rich of notions on the single chosen area. the other hand, offers the possibility to concentrate on a single area at the time, so to end the course remembering the major number of information learned. is not obligatory to follow all the modules, the student can subscribe only at the one’s of his interest.but not least, the fact of having the formation in only one day permits to many participant to return back home the same day, knocking down useless adjunctive travel costs.

TO WHOM IS DIRECTED THE COURSE:
Our course are open to fully licensed or students of last year of study in: Medicine, Osteopathy, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic.
The course is directed to all those sanitary operators who intend to have detailed and deep knowledge on musculoskeletal anatomy, and to all the specialists in the field to whom the understating of manual anatomy is fundamental in the practice of their profession.
And permits at the end of each module to orientate rapidly and precisely on the patient body, being sure of the exact palpatory reality underneath the operators hands.

Prior to every palpatory anatomy courses is warmly suggested to reveiew the musculoskeletal anatomy of the choosen area!
